Maksim Hanukai

Maksim Hanukai received a Ph.D. in Russian Literature from Columbia University and is currently a postdoctoral fellow at the Harriman Institute.
A specialist in Russian and European Romanticism, the Russian avant-garde, and Russian theater, he is currently completing his first monograph, Pushkin’s Tragic Visions, and beginning work on a second project, Post.doc: The Documentary Turn in Post-Soviet Russian Culture.
He has taught Russian language and literature at Columbia and the University of Notre Dame, and recently travelled to Moscow to conduct research on the documentary theater Teatr.doc.
He is a member of the translation collective Cement and has previously collaborated with his brother Simón on theater adaptations of Chekhov and Pushkin.
