2017 Harlem Arts Festival, NYC - June 24 & 25, 2017

SPACES: Harlem is an immersive storytelling performance that invites audiences to experience intimate moments from Harlem’s past. At the heart of the piece, local Harlem residents recount personal stories about the place they call home. SPACES: Harlem combines dance, theatre, music, and video, and took place at the gorgeous Mount Morris Ascension Presbyterian Church in the heart of Harlem.

“Our 2017 annual theater commission, Kaimera’s SPACES: Harlem, transformed an historic space that has served as a cornerstone of the community for years. It brought to light the many beautiful moments, unsung histories, and voices from the margins that capture the essence of our neighborhood, and lovingly shared it through a series of rituals and oral narratives to a very diverse crowd. Harlemites old and new, and visitors alike could appreciate the stories, and feel connected to the space."
