WEB DESIGNER & DEVELOPER
Please apply by March 21st, 2021
PLEASE NOTE: This is not a full time position.
Kaimera Productions is an NYC & Paris based interdisciplinary live arts company. Kaimera Productions uses live performance to bring audiences together in dialogue and examine some of the hardest questions our global society faces.
Kaimera is searching for a Web Designer & Developer (individual or a team) to build a website for a new collaborative storytelling project entitled OurStory. At the center of OurStory are short video “duets” in which an artist uses their creative medium, be it dance, music, or multimedia, to respond to a personal real-life story told by people from all over the world. The aim of OurStory is to create a virtual space for people from all over the world to share stories, and the artistic creativity that these stories spark. As such, the project is fundamentally a collaboration site, intended to connect individuals, and showcase the stories and voices of those that are usually not heard.
Work with the Kaimera team to scope the project in detail. We are looking for a candidate interested in a collaborative relationship, in which we can rely on the Web Designer & Developer’s expertise to help us make decisions and determine the path forward.
Create the desktop and mobile design of the OurStory website, including logo, art objects, website feel, etc.
Use best practices in web development to implement the design through methods to be decided jointly with the Kaimera team.
Liaise with the Kaimera team at key stages in the project to discuss website functions, design, implementation, etc. This may include regularly scheduled check-ins.
THE OURSTORY WEBSITE
The OurStory website will need to satisfy some or all of the following functions. Exact details will be determined in collaboration with the Web Designer & Developer.
Feature existing video duets, with a UI built so that users can easily navigate the library of existing duets (for example, through a world map which shows where collaborators are located)
Be a place where duets can easily be added, as new videos are made (videos may not need to be stored on the website, but need to be available for access and viewing on the platform)
House useful resources, such as video tutorials on editing, storytelling, etc.
The project’s expected timeline runs through December 2021. The Web Designer & Developer’s work will be intermittent during that time frame, with some busy periods, and some when they won’t need to engage. Exact details on project scheduling will be decided jointly with the successful candidate.
Diversity is one of our core values. Applicants from underrepresented populations are strongly encouraged to apply. Candidates can be based anywhere. The most important is that the candidate wants to be an integral and engaged part of the project.
Interested candidates please send the following to firstname.lastname@example.org by March 21st:
A portfolio of your past work, including websites you have designed and built
A proposed quote for the work on the project (given that the exact scope of work will be decided collaboratively, we welcome quotes presented as a price range).
Applicants can find an example of the website's structure, which demonstrates the intentions behind it, here. In addition, a sample of a video duet that would be featured on the website can be seen here.
