DATAPRINT: THE INSTALLATION is the first fully produced version of the DATAPRINT project, presented amidst the global conversation around the ethics of data mining.
This first initiative of DATAPRINT invited audiences to reflect on the impact of their online fingerprint through an interactive multimedia installation that collects, processes, and distills real-time data generated in their public surroundings.
Visitors are offered the choice to personalize their experience by composing an avatar based on their virtual habits, witnessing a visual representation of their online conduct
as they enter a stunning world of dynamic data. The installation is accompanied by a dance piece that is performed once every hour. Inspired by the data flow, it adds a poetic reflection to the issues raised and enables visitors to perceive their invisible yet constantly evolving online persona.
DATAPRINT: THE INSTALLATION premiered simultaneously at The Tech Museum of Innovation in San Jose CA and the Cubbon Park Metro Station in central Bangalore, in the USA and India silicon valleys respectively, to spur the dialogue about online privacy and our increasingly data-driven society in two key cities in the technology sector. Following its debut, DATAPRINT: THE INSTALLATION is transferable to new locations to engage an extended circle of online users.
